- What will I gain from each session?
-

- What is the difference between CEUs and the length of a course (course hours)? How does this relate to CEEs?
-
Course length is reported differently by ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) and CALSPA (Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists). ASHA uses the internationally recognized Continuing Education Unit (CEU) as the standard unit of measuring participation in a continuing education course. One (1.0) CEU is defined as 10 hours of participation in coursework. Therefore, a single hour of participation in a course is equal to 0.1 CEUs. CASLPA’s Continuing Education Equivalent (CEE) is based on clock hours; a 1 hour course is equal to 1 CEE.
- What is the difference between the online, Source® and DVDs for Groups courses?
-
The online courses are self-study courses designed for the individual to take at their own pace. Source® courses are also designed for the individual and have no time constraints, but you do have to purchase or have access to the Source® book for the course. DVDs for Groups are in-service courses designed for five or more SLPs. DVDs for Groups include a DVD presentation, course handout and a group discussion segment.
- When will new courses be offered?
-
Our mission as the ultimate publisher of materials for speech-language pathologists is to give our customers superior service and support. We will continue to add to our lineup of FREE CE courses each year. If you have a suggestion for a course please e-mail us.
- Do I have to be a member of ASHA to participate?
-
No. Anyone can earn the CEUs offered with all of our CE courses. Participants who are neither ASHA members nor ASHA certificate holders, and wish to complete our continuing education courses can print a certificate upon completion for their personal records. For more information regarding ASHA CE requirements or the ASHA CE Registry, you may contact ASHA at 1-800-498-2071, ext. 4219 or visit them on the web at www.asha.org.
- Will I need to send paperwork to ASHA?
-
No. LinguiSystems will correspond with ASHA within six weeks of your completion date and send all necessary paperwork to them.
- Once I complete a course, how do I get my CEUs listed in the ASHA Registry or show proof of CASLPA CEEs earned?
-
If you are a member of the ASHA CE Registry and would like LinguiSystems to report your CEUs, you must provide us with your ASHA number. Without your ASHA number, you will not receive CEU credit from ASHA. CASLPA accepts the LinguiSystems completion certificate as proof of completion of CEEs. You are responsible for sending proof of CEEs when audited by CALSPA. If you would like additional information about CEEs, please contact CASLPA at 1-800-259-8519 or visit them on the web at www.caslpa.ca.
