CDs packaged with LinguiSystems books

You must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view the files on the CD.   You can download Adobe Reader free from Adobe.
  • The CD won’t auto start.

    Auto start may not be enabled on your computer.

    Follow these steps:

    • Open the file manually.
    • Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of your screen (Window users)
    • Select Programs or All Programs
    • Launch Adobe Reader
    • Choose File, Open in Adobe Reader
    • Locate the CD drive
    • Open the product’s .pdf file


  • The file “D:\[product name].pdf was not found” error appears.

    You must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view the files on the CD.  You can download Adobe Reader free from Adobe.

  • Printed output contains black boxes or doesn’t look right.

    First, ensure that you have the most current printer drivers installed.  Try printing on other printers.   Or change the print setting in Reader to "Print as an Image" on the problem printer by:

    • Opening Adobe Reader
    • Open the PDF of the book in Reader
    • Clicking File
    • Clicking Print
    • Clicking Advanced
    • Putting a checkmark in "Print as an Image"


    You will have to change these settings each time you restart Reader.

  • A specific page number selected in print dialog box doesn’t print.  Another page prints.

    • Bring up the page you want to print
    • Go to File
    • Go to Print
    • Click on Current Page
    • Click ok


    Ignore page number differences between the CD and book.

  • Articulation

    I am unable to retain user-added words to vocalic /r/, medial position.  Words can be added and coded, but the words do not display in the master wordlist.

    • Right-click on the file (Word Selection.swf) and "Save As" to this location:
      C:\\Program Files\LinguiSystems\Click and Create Articulation\Game Boards
    • Click "Yes" to overwrite existing file.
    • Restart the program.  The problem will be fixed.

  • Vocabulary

    I am unable to use the space bar when adding words to the program.

    • Right-click on the file (Word Selection.swf) and "Save As" to this location:
      C:\\Program Files\LinguiSystems\Click and Create Vocabulary\Game Boards
    • Click "Yes" to overwrite existing file.
    • Restart the program.  The problem will be fixed.

    The latest version is v1.0.  No updates are available.

Autism & PDD: Concept Development

  • There are no program sounds.

    The minimum system requirement for this title is Windows 98 SE.  If you are running Windows 98, you can get program sounds to work by launching the program manually.  After you quit the program from autostart, click your “My Computer” icon, right-click on the CD-ROM drive, and select “Explore”." Double-click the “mmv1.exe” file.

    Or copy the entire contents of the CD to your hard drive and lauch it directly from your computer instead of from the CD.

Autism & PDD: Picture Stories and Language Activites (Matt and Molly)

  • There are no program sounds

    The minimum system requirement for this title is Windows 98 SE.  If you are running Windows 98, you can get program sounds to work by launching the program manually.

    • After you quit the program from autostart, click your “My Computer” icon, right-click on the CD-ROM drive, and select “Explore”.
    • Double-click the “mmv1.exe” file.

  • I am unable to install the program.

    You must have administrative rights to install the program.

    Go to Software Information, Technical Issues for additional information.

  • I am unable to save user data

    You must have full administrative read and write access to the program’s directory on your hard drive.

    Go to Software Information, Technical Issues for additional information.

  • There is audio stuttering.

    If you are launching the program from the hard drive, make sure the CD is not in the drive.

    On newer computers, stuttering can occur.  Quit the program and follow these steps:

    • Click the “Start” button (lower left-hand corner of your screen).
    • Click “Settings” and then “Control Panel” from the pop-out menu.
    • Double-click “Sounds”(or Sounds and Multimedia) icon on the control panel.
    • Click the “Audio” tab (the third tab at the top of the pop-up box).
    • Click the Advanced button in the Sound Playback area.
    • Click the “Performance” tab.
    • Reduce the hardware acceleration to “None” or “Basic” by dragging it to the left.
    • Click “OK” to close the windows.

Early Social Behavior Series

  • There are no program sounds

Functional Communication Profile Reporting Software

  • I am unable to save data on the interactive forms.

    You must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to save data to forms.

    Adobe Reader can be installed from the main screen of the Functional Communication Profile Reporting Software application by clicking the button on the bottom of the screen.

  • I am unable to install the program.

    You must have administrative rights to install the program.

    Go to Software Information, Technical Issues for additional information.

  • I am unable to save user data

Phonological Awareness Test 2 and Scoring Software

  • Nothing happens when I click the Print/Save button

    Quit the program using Windows Task Manager, if necessary, and restart the program.   Your data will be saved.  Then select the previous student name and record.   Then click on Save/Print.  The problem should be fixed.

  • I am unable to enter the birth date and/or the chronological age does not calculate

    You must have administrator rights to the data folder to enter the birth date and accurately calculate chronological age.

    See your network administrator to grant you administrator rights to the “C:\Program Files\LinguiSystems\” folder (in Windows).

  • My firewall program alerts me that a program is trying to access the Internet or similar message

    The Phonological Awareness Test 2 and Scoring Software uses an internal print server program that makes your computer think it is accessing an outside service, which is not the case.

    Generally, if you permit your firewall access to this program, it will create a rule to allow the function to run in the future.  If you need to manually configure access through your firewall program, permit the application “CreatorServer.exe” to run on port 4000.

Spotlight Series

  • Spotlight on Vocabulary Level 1

    • A box that should contain a picture is blank when the screen loads.

      This bug is rare, but may appear when you move through the program at a quick pace or click on the screen before it fully loads.  Rolling your mouse over the empty box will refresh the image.  Or, restart the session, and the image will appear.

Story Comprehension to Go

  • I have problems installing program Version 1.15 on Windows

    Quit the program if you’re running it.  Next, double-click the My Computer icon on your screen.  Then double click the CD drive labeled StoryCompToGoCD in the right-hand pane.  Double-click Install.exe file to install the program.

  • I have problems installing program Version 1.15 on Mac

    There is a bug in the installer for some versions of Mac OS 9 or 10.  If you receive an error message while attempting to install, copy the entire contents of the CD to a new folder on your hard drive and associate an alias on your desktop with the program launch application.
