Technical Issues

  • Will your products work on Vista?

Although our software titles were not developed specifically for Vista, our testing shows that they are all functionally compatible.

  • When I start the program, it doesn’t all “fit” on my screen.  What’s happening?

Many of our titles require a 1024x768 screen resolution.  If the program seems larger than your screen, you need to increase your resolution.  This file has step-by-step instructions to change your screen resolution.

  • My network administrator or technical services person installed the program on my machine.  Why won’t it save any of the user data I input?

If your administrator installed the program under her or his username without giving you administrative rights to the program’s folder, you won’t be able to save information when you are logged in under your username.  Your administrator must grant you rights to read and write data to the program’s folder ([Local Hard Drive]:\Program Files\LinguiSystems\[Product Name] for Windows users and Applications\LinguiSystems for Mac users).  See your network administrator or technical services personnel for assistance with resolving this issue.

  • When I try to install a program, why do I get an error message that tells me I don’t have rights to install it or I receive an Input/Output Error?

You must have administrative rights to your machine to install many of our programs.  Contact your network administrator or technical services personnel for assistance if you receive errors like the one mentioned in the question.  If your administrator installs software under her or his username, the administrator will need to make sure that your username has read/write rights to the data folder within the program.  Otherwise, you will be able to run the program when you log in but you will not be able to save data.  (See the question above this one for more information.)

  • Is your software switch accessible?  Does it work with touchscreens?

Yes, all of the titles in our Autism & PDD series may work with switch systems that can be mapped to Tab key and left mouse-click functions.  Since touchscreen functions are hardware reliant, all of our programs will work with touchscreen systems.  Some of our titles (No-Glamour Series, Spotlight Series) require keyboard input to register a student name for record-keeping, but once that step is passed, no other keyboard-specific input is required to run our student-centered programs.

Licensing Issues

  • Can I install a copy of your software on a network so all of our speech therapists can access it?

No, our software license covers use by an individual therapist and her caseload.  You may not store our software on a network for use by several therapists.  You may, however, install a title on a network if you are the sole user.  For more clarification, see our Licensing Agreement document.

  • Can I purchase a multi-user license for your software?

No, we do not provide multiple-user licensing agreements.  Instead, you must purchase a separate copy of the software for each person who will be using it.  The physical copy of the software and its proof of purchase serves as your user license.  If you want to install the software on a multi-user network to be accessed by several therapists, you must purchase an individual copy of the software for each user, even if you are only going to install one instance of the software on your network to be accessed by several users.  Note the user's name, date of purchase, and a copy of the packing slip/invoice in your records as proof of licensing for each individual licensee.  For more clarification, see our Licensing Agreement document.

  • Can I use your software with more than one student?

Yes, you may use one of our software titles with as many individuals as you have on your own caseload.  You may install the software in multiple locations as long as you are the sole therapist/instructor accessing the program.  For more clarification, see our Licensing Agreement document.

Content Issues

  • Can I print the items from the program for my students?

Most of our programs are designed solely for onscreen interactivity.  Many of our programs (No-Glamour series, Spotlight series, and Assessment software allows printing of student records).  With the exception of elements from the following programs, you cannot print content from the program:

    • Click and Create Articulation Game Boards–completed game boards
    • Click and Create Vocabulary Game Boards–completed game boards
    • Spotlight on Reading and Listening Comprehension Level 1–60 1-page illustrated stories
    • Spotlight on Reading and Listening Comprehension Level 2–60 1-page illustrated stories
  • How are the software programs different from the books and printed materials on which they are based?

The original printed material is used as a base for interactive elements in the program.  Most of the material in the original printed version appears in the software program, but often in a slightly different form.  In most cases we have added additional tasks or content so the interactive and printed versions complement one another.
