Tests for Differences Between Standard and iPad Administrations of the LAT

Note: SD = Standard Deviation    t.01(df=46)≥2.90
The scores are the total number of errors on the LAT.
Most of the age groups had 17 subjects with normal language development and 7 with articulations disorders.

Mean Error Score for the Standard and iPad Administration of the LAT

The subjects with the standard administration of the LAT were randomly selected from the 2010 norming of the LAT. The iPad error scores were from subjects recently selected and tested by speech clinicians in January, 2013. Most of the age groups had 17 subjects with normal language development and 7 with articulations disorders.

The statistical analysis indicates that the errors for the iPad and standard administration of the LAT are not significantly different. This is true for every age group. At each age level, ANOVA(Analysis of Variance) was done and follow-up t tests for the difference between the two test administration were computed. The mean errors for the iPad and standard presentation are shown in the graph and all descriptive statistics are displayed in the table. The larger differences in means were due to a few very high error scores on the standard administration, suggesting that the differences are the result of random sampling errors. In summary, the results indicate that the standard and iPad presentation of the LAT produce comparable error scores.
