-
Master's Degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology
The American Psychological Association (1985, Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing) specifically states that those clinicians participating in standardized testing must hold the highest clinical degree in the specific field of the standardized test. Our tests are primarily for speech-language pathologists, which means testers must hold a Master's degree or higher in that field. Equivalent degrees in another field or years of experience are not acceptable according to APA.

A subject is eligible if the following exist:

Age cells are in half year intervals. If a subject is 6 years, 11 months, and 17 days, he qualifies in the 6.6-6.11 age cell and must be tested before turning 7.0 years. Do not round up or down for number of days. Watch birthdates carefully as a subject's age could change before he is tested. If this happens, go to the Subject Selection Chart to add the subject back. You may select another subject.
-
The ethnic/racial background is correct.
If the subject's parents indicate the child is from an ethnic/racial background different from the one you identified, your subject is ineligible. The parent's information is assumed correct. If this happens, go to the Subject Selection Chart to add the subject back. You may select another subject.
-
The subject's gender is correct.
If the subject's parents indicate the child's gender is different from the one you identified, your subject is ineligible. The parent's information is assumed correct. If this happens, go to the Subject Selection Chart to add the subject back. You may select another subject.

If the subject's parents indicate the child's educational setting is different from the one you identified, your subject MIGHT be ineligible. Clarify the issue based on the educational setting definitions below. If a discrepancy exists, go to the Subject Selection Chart to add the subject back. You may select another subject.

Gifted Subjects
According to the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), a gifted person is "someone who shows, or has the potential for showing, an exceptional level of performance in one or more areas of expression." The NAGC cautions that giftedness should not be confused with a high mark on an examination; high IQ scores; or parent, teacher, or student recommendations.
LinguiSystems recognizes that gifted and talented education differs from state to state. For that reason we recommend that test examiners include "gifted" students in the regular education category for the purposes of data collection.
